Because of my major, Graphic Design, I feel as if typography has a HUGE part in poetry, more so written poetry, in which is produced on either paper or screen. The way the type is laid out, the typeface is used etc. These qualities alone tell a story, and are apart of the poetry in hand. I feel as if some poems were produced or layer out in a different typeface, the poem would not be as effective. This piece of Visual Poetry is a perfect example on how effective typography is towards poetry. I think if the type was laid in a different form, it probably wouldn't be as affective.

  1. Maybe you didn't know this but the button that allows people to comment on your blog isn't visible because of the back bar.

However, I love this example, especially because its an actual image of a bottle. I think that this could be replicated in text form on the computer, but it just wouldn't be the same. It realy shows the steps that an alcoholic would have to go though in life.

    Great piece!

  2. Good stuff, concrete or visual poetry is very interesting and captivating. It introduces so many more aspects and features to a poem that wouldn't have the same effect if it were to typed out normally. I love how the words that form the bottle of Jack Daniels tells a story. At the end, just like at the last drop of alcohol it says bid farewell giving off the impression that "since you drank all of this, good luck trying to recover". Great find I really enjoy looking at pictures like these, concrete poetry is amazing stuff. Thank you for the post.
